    Picked this up in Lakeland last week to replace the scudzy raw example in the US Type Set. Nice die break on reverse. Seller claimed doubling of facial profile but I'm not seeing it.

    I believe they engraved around the portrait on hub(s) to make it "pop." You can see it on many 1942s at the forehead and forelock if you zoom in on high quality images. Haven't looked at 1943s but maybe it's the same.
