Wonderful coin. @Paddy54 sent me shiny war nickel. I love when these nickels look like regular nickels. Ours are warn.
I didn't really need another one, but this sold raw at a really cheap price and my bid took it. Full-resolution photos
I just noticed there is something odd about the mintmark. This was the first year Denver struck Lincoln cents, so I guess they needed some practice getting the placement in the right spot. I checked it out at Variety Vista, and it looks like an RPM-003 (D/D Rotated CW. FS-503).
Seller's photos and my photo (showing actual color). Not sure how I feel about the seller jacking with the color like that. There were actually three obverse hub types in 1900 and I finally acquired the third. I'll post a whole thread on it at some point.
I’ve been looking for a nice later date large cent for quite a while and finally decided to go all out and pull the trigger on this MS64. I suspect it may be a “net grade” as there are some hits on the cheek but the surfaces and luster are off the charts.
Just received in change at the coffee shop, 1982-D small date zinc. Still quite red. Has parallel plating lines covering both sides, which looks cool. Not worth anything, just fun to see still floating around after 40 years.
