Going thru my spare change and found this. Probably machine doubling but thought I'd check with y'all.
I got this in change today. I watched the nice lady bust open the roll. After that I looked at everything she had. All "D's" NO "P's" or "S's".
I went to the LCS to pick up a 2x2 for the quarter and I wanted to spend more than 5¢. I picked up this "Native American Dollar".
Can't even count the number of hours of superb reading enjoyment that Mr. Cornwell has provided me. My faves are the Richard Sharpe series and, of course, the Saxon tales/series (Uhtred). Sad to have read the last volume he'll publish in the Saxon tales. Crossing my fingers he'll start a new series as good as those two.
Was just looking for other VF30 graded coins to compare one of mine to and found a whole new online dealer and bought two more bust halves. The 1813 has what appears to be a really nice strike for a half of that year. And this die was said to have taken a beating until the denticles didn't strike up good. This one seems to have been struck early. And they both have a nice crusty look. I think the overdate will get here tomorrow. Because it was one of those things you buy it and then you keep shopping lol. I messaged the guy later that day and he had already shipped it. I said well I'm ordering another one!
As a rule, with the exception of the wing the O-102 is probably the best struck 1809 there is. Hard to believe that the reverse die had already been used twice before. Of course, there is also the fact that during my lifetime I have learned to do many things reasonably well. Taking coin pics isn't one of them though.
My comment has nothing to do with the photos, and everything to do with the coin. Please take the time to go back and examine it more critically. I think you will eventually agree with me.
The only problem I spot in my post is the wonky looking date. And yes, in my pic it IS wonky looking--especially the 8. In reality, it isn't though. Here's a different look at it. Are you seeing something that I'm just not picking up? I'm always ready to learn.
