    Today I got a 1898 10$ for spot+8%.
Common date, probably cleaned, EF details?
I’m happy with it anyway. It’s a type I’ve wanted for a long time.

I think the reverse was from a retired matte proof die it has the diagnostics on the reverse but not the obverse

Some O-102a do actually have the XXX edge.

Doesn't gotta be. There are a few early 102As with the XXX edge. I doubt this is one of them, though.

Yours is a later die state. The cracks around the date indicate that. And there’s some debate about your first statement. NGC pop indicates a handful of xxx O.102a coins, but I contend they’re wrong, most likely. Only because I owned one of them once. And there were no X’s to be seen. Once before I owned one in AU53 that had no die cracks, and I swear at the right angle you could see a couple shadows of x’s, but alas, I tried it at PCGS and NGC and neither granted it to XXXX edge.

Here's a PCGS 102a XXX with the cracks at the date. The reverse crack is in its infancy. Although the coin isn't (and never has been) mine I saw it before it was slabbed. And yes, the designation is deserved.

Like Doubting Thomas, I’d have to see it in hand myself before I believe it. I’ve bought many that looked like this and none had X’s.

Garlicus Debt is dumb, cash is king.

Nothing special, but it was free. Who doesn’t like free silver.
Put my jacket and a pair of pants in my dryer for a short cycle, and this was sitting there waiting for me, perfectly positioned, when I took them out :)
