Found this 1972 Washington burst American revolutionary bicentennial commemorative medal. Is it because it is noted as a medal that it is not listed in the commemorative listings ?
A few steps closer to completing my 32-64 Washington album! Took a pic of the reverses but I cannot find it. None of the reverse are nice though, 36P is the best of the bunch as far as reverse.
Another raw Proof Lincoln I found and bought on Wednesday. I'll be sending this into PCGS for grading and photos next week. This was the sellers blurb: "This 1938 Proof Lincoln Cent is estimated to grade PR65+RB. This is a simply amazing coin with tons of eye appeal. It is an original and naturally toned coin with incredibly nice toning. Both the obverse and reverse show stunning sky blue and rose tones. This coin has not been cleaned or messed with, it is not hairlined. The surfaces are very nice with no marks or hits and no discolored areas. There are only a couple very minute toning specks keeping this coin from an even higher grade. The coin is super flashy and fully mirrored. Just an awesome example of this early Proof Lincoln Cent. I thought it was also a very interesting coin in that it looks as if the dies were over polished or something ... the front of Lincoln's coat is missing, note right below the 19 of the date. I guess we could call this the missing coat variety! Truly an amazing coin in every way!"
They are not pattern coins. They were privately minted by the FSNC (Full Step Nickel Club) in 2002 to recognize Felix Schlag's original award winning design. The design used on the actual coinage was a forced modification by the US Mint. They minted 1938 sets to commemorate the year of the Jefferson Nickel and had them encapsulated and numbered by SEGS. My set is number 820. They sell for a few hundred dollars but are difficult to find. It took me 3 years and a stroke of luck to obtain this set.
Man there was a time that I stumbled upon the bottom of a dam "Conowingo." Everyone was bringing in huge cats and stripers. I said to myself my god I found it. The source of the ancient lunkers den. I wonder where the conowingo of the cent market is. Certainly haven't found it on eBay. Awesome Cents.
