Here’s my latest. The rarest 20th Century Liberty double eagle (Mintage 58,910). NGC has graded 174 higher with only one in 65. PCGS has never graded one above 64 plus. Mike at ToughCoins ran this little darling down at the Baltimore show. I hope you enjoy!
2016 High Relieft Silver Saint-Gaudens: This is the high relief silver ounce in a quasi-Saint pattern honoring Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This one is PF69. Price spiked when first released, has come down since. Figured it was a nice consolation price compared to the 2019-S Reverse Enhanced costing 20x as much !
@RonSanderson that's a heck of a 1910-S for $71! Good score ... Neither do I see any obvious rub in the photo. Ironically, I have been wanting to replace our 1910-S in 64+RD PCGS with a toned example ... and just yesterday came across this one graded 66RB. Cost me a lot more than $71, though! Kind regards, George
Thanks for the kind words. I went to your web site a couple of weeks ago and I was blown away. The TrueView is glamorous. There is a prior Heritage auction for the coin that shows how much difference there is between their photos and the TrueView. (Did I just cyber-stalk your coin? I was only intending to find the guide price for 66RB.) I am surprised by how well my photos held up against your coin’s TrueViews. My goal is just to match the in-hand look. Although, I’m tempted to increase my personal grade of 65BR after looking at other photos. I’m glad we’ve both found something we can be happy with!
BTW....that 2016 S-G Liberty Silver coin came in a very thick slab. All my other coins are in the regular "thin" PCGS or NGG slabs -- I guess the high reliefs need it or they did it for looks. Reminds me of the old 1970's advertisements for Chunky chocolate, much thicker than Hershey's, Nestles, etc.
Clearly Mint Set toning, gorgeously so. This is a look that is impossible to duplicate by coin "artists/doctors". I don't know why so many 1958 Mint Sets produce such gorgeous color, but I'm sure glad they do! Kind regards, George
2016 High Relief Silver Saint-Gaudens: And another one !! This one is a PF70. Reasonable price premium to the PF69, I didn't go overboard. My philosophy on these things is: I'm buying 1 ounce of silver, so if I like the design, I'll pay the 200-500% premium ONCE (or twice ). But I do not use these special designs or commemoratives as a replacement for any gold or silver bullion-type investments. Recouping the premium in those circumstances would be very difficult and probably unattainable without a quadrupling or more in silver's price.
