I sure wish there was a metal detecting forum here. Had a great week playing in the dirt. Saturday I found a big silver ring and a brass railroad conductor’s hat badge. Monday I found a solid silver man’s belt buckle. Tuesday I found a saw mill blade. 24 inches across weighing over 30 pounds. Today I found a police lieutenant badge, a number of clad coins, a ‘46, ‘57 and ‘58 wheat pennies then a ‘36 Walking Liberty half dollar and a ‘23 Mercury dime.
Picked up this beauty (I like it anyway) a few days ago. 1846 Small Date (most common of the 1846 date varieties). A few dings, but still looking good for a 173 yr old coin.
Figured out how to post an image from my hard drive. Thanks to a Mod and a search of "Frequently Asked Questions."
Nothing fancy, but my wife and I are expecting a little girl here in the next few weeks. Well, she went ahead and ordered me this for when the time comes. Prof coins are always pretty to me but the newborn packaging makes it special. I know, however, a snowball has a better chance in hell than I do of getting my daughter to appreciate coins and love collecting.
Congrats! ....You never know, I started the indoctrination early and my little one is about to turn 5. Shows her silver eagle to everyone. I started by bringing pocketfuls of coins to the playground, hiding them and letting her hunt for “treasure.”
Got these today for the 20th Century type set from my local coin shop. Also bought a Morgan that the shop owner is cracking out for me. These will go in my Capital holder.
Just won at auction - haven't received yet. 64FB. The luster on the reverse looks weak (probably over-dipped a long time ago), but the 25D is a VERY tough date and I liked the color on the obverse. I probably won't ever be able to afford a higher grade example with this nice color.
