Edit: I replaced the original photo with this one. The color is more accurate, and more like the yellowish copper that I also see in the 1909 and 1911 San Francisco production. This was one coin being sold from a complete set on eBay. The later lots went out of my range but I was really hoping for this one. I was lucky the other bidders held on to their money for later. Am I foolish for thinking MS65 RB?
It could be a 65. I see something that looks like light scratches in the obverse field above the date at certain angles.
That's some sharp-eyed observation. At first I only saw the bright die scratches. Then I super-magnified it and saw that there are minute planchet flaws. They start above the zero and run almost vertically. They were almost obliterated by the striking but a small trace remains. I can't see them with the naked eye. Edit: I replaced the photo in post #23860 with one with slightly more accurate color.
I like the design not what I usually buy but Courtney loves mermaids and I got a couple to put away for my son too
Bill ....We're you a pirate in a former life? Do you own a puffy shirt? See... Seinfeld > Season 5 Episode 2 aired 9/23/93[ the puffy shirt] They are nice looking silver rounds....betcha they would tone nice...
Lol. Maybe. I live 20 miles from the ocean. As to the puffy shirt I actually do as I dressed as a pirate for Halloween a couple years ago. And my language would often embarrass a pirate
I should try toning them. I’m not a fan of the bright silver. I think Courtney wants to make a necklace out of one too
You know what do a sweet job ? One of the old tan 2x2 envelopes those suckers toned coins in no time.stored in a warm dry space. Yeah I was going to ask Courtney if you said argggg a lot...
I think by provident the 2 oz I think they came out in 2015. Most people I see are selling them in the $60-65 range. I paid around $45 ea with the cash/ Check discount and the quantity discount
Lol. I know all too well about the envelope. I like to put them on the windowsill the water at the house her parents have in Massachusetts will do it even quicker. After it toned her jewelry in the shower I’ve played around with some low end coins. It does a good job
