I would say there was a little too much lighting. The older white anacs holders (and NGC white holders) tend to impact what the coins look like in pictures. It takes a lot of work to get them just right - and I am not the guy to show this kind of patience. From the two sets of pictures I would say the coin is nice worn light chocolate brown. I also think teletrade makes most larger copper coins look dark. Just my opinion.
Picked this up at a local "Collectibles" store for $50. They mostly sell superhero collectibles, toys, sports memorabilia but have a small coin section. Thought it was a nice find for a nice coin
I was lucky on this 1866 Shield Nickel w/rays, my dealer buddy gave me a call earlier today and said he has a really nice piece for my type set. I've been real worried that I wasn't going to find a nice quality Shield w/rays without finding one that's porous or in bad shape. And I couldn't pass up this gorgeous one year only 1964 1000 Yen Mt. Fuji Olympics.
Nice 89 Ken. Is that the actually toning or just a trick of the lighting/photograph? It's reall nice.
That is the acual toning and is really 'rich in color', for lack of a better description, in hand. Holding Kennedy next to the screen is a pretty close match. The image here is slightly brighter and has slightly more white. Thank you for asking about that; I appreciate it! -L
