My first and only 1920, freshly back from PCGS grading at 66FB. It is super flashy in hand, the color is nice, and the strike is essentially perfect.
This raw one came today. I got it for a decent price I think and it is pretty clean with few marks. Lots of luster in hand. Some good die-cracks and clashed dies going on to, though I've not attributed it yet to see which VAM it may be. I have my thoughts on the grade, but would be interested to see what others thought. These are sellers photos for now, working on getting my own taken.
Hi I got some dimes off the bay and they arrived today. I thought they were reasonably priced so I bought them, now that they are hear I’m happy I did.
I'm honestly curious here. Did these seriously circulate so much that they would end up in PR/FR condition?? That's insane to think about. This thing must have circulated widely and constantly for 150 years or something to end up like that.
It probably circulated like that for about 50 years and then was lost or buried. There are indications that it actually isn't "worn" down as much as corroded like remnants of the eye and sharp dentilation. They used to do that a lot. It has expensive corrosion which makes me think that it may be a dug coin. There are lots of coins which have been found since the use of metal detectors, and many are in this condition. Plus, being copper, it wears faster than many other metals and you know how fast the old silver dimes wore down to almost nothing.
Crazy, right? Just imagine if the US Mint was crazy enough to sell branch mint rolls of quarters and half dollars, or even BAGS of them. No one would buy those......
1898 S MS 62 Morgan (update). At first, I wasn't sure if this update was really necessary? But oh well.
Oh I'm sorry. Didn't know you found those in a roll. Thought you were just buying 40 of the same coin.
It arrived today. These are my initial photos. There's a little more there that I thought. Look closely between FOR A and you can see remnants of an earlier edge R ~.
