I just picked these up today. I could not resist breaking up the pair. I did not own an example of this slab yet.
Quick story about these old PCI slabs . . . I once bought an 1853-O No Arrows H10c in one of these older PCI holders, graded VF20. I knew the coin was conservatively graded and, more importantly, I absolutely loved the look of the coin. I also knew the coin was scarce, and would be easy to sell. I had no idea at that time just how rare a pleasing example of this date is, especially in middle grades. I turned the coin over for a reasonable profit, but far less than it is truly worth. I have only once since that time seen another on the same grade range that I wanted to buy . . . and bid too low. I'd forgotten all about that coin until I saw your photos of those holders . . . sigh.
I buy these PCI slabs when ever I can, if I see one with an h 10 it will be mine. I'm always on the look out for these with other than Morgans in them. However every one I have purchased no matter the grade on the holder have been winners! Each have been at least a grade higher or a hot or top vam. The coins for the most part are slighly toned, around the rim and sometimes in the fields. Needless to say if I spot one at a show...there's a 99% chance it's coming home with me.
Picked up another Morgan today at a show I had not been to before. It's a raw 1888-O Morgan. Absolutely stunning in hand!
I think it should be a lock 65 with a chance at 66. If it had a better strike, I'd call it a lock 66. This date/mm is known for it's satiny luster which this one is full of.

I have a set of these...... and so wish that this had been what the mint went with... And what. Most others are unaware is there's only 1938 sets of these! All in Seg's slabs
Just in, this is the silver proof version. I'm putting it in the State Quarter hole in my Dansco 7070
1927 D Peace update I backtracked on this one. This is the first peace dollar, that I've purchased in a good while. My collection needed it.
