Got my first bust quarter in several months, and this one is pretty special. 1834 is the second most common year for the small diameter sub-series, but this one is the Browning-5 die marriage- the rarest of the year, currently rated R5. Pretty cool to own something so uncommon with nice eye appeal for its grade (PCGS F12).

Fantastic eye appeal, and that coin is undergraded.

I think it's more like properly graded and we've come to expect overgrading from TPGs. But it is certainly below Market grading. It's certainly the type of coin I would consider CAC worthy, even in a lower grade.

Here is a nice Comp from the Heritage Archives: I initially thought it was the same coin until I looked at the reverse. It has wear at the top your's doesn't have but without the minor flaw your's does have below the wing on the left side. This Comp also received a CAC.

Mike i will probably be pricing myself out of this one for sure... b qut your 1865 h-10
Is both the RPD -001 & the DDR-001 1865 /1 Repunchhed 1 NE seen above the base on the right side .
Qith the high base cost and rarity of the proof coins from this era there is no premium for the repunch.....however....it is an V-6 hub doubli g doubled HAL /HALF/,DI of dimeand leaf points on the inside on the left side of wreath.
Only1 reverse working die was used for the 65 13000 minted 120,000 S minted .
The doubling is primary seen on the left side of the rev. Which poi ts to the working die being tilted when hubbed.

Thanks for your observations Paddy. I had noticed the reverse doubling, but not the RPD. Not to worry, I won't be raising my price.

I agree with that statement- I mentioned that with modern grading in mind.

Hard to tell from the pictures what exactly is going on under the wing... if that's a scratch next to the die marker that would better explain the grade with the slightly rougher surfaces. Still a sweet original coin either way. :)

I've been buying a bunch of bargain coins lately. Mostly in my favorite holder, the NGC No Line Fatty.

I can't believe the deal I got on this one from Great Collections.

Another GC buy for a great price.
