My daughter who is 5 was just asking me why I read about coins a lot. So I showed her a picture of this 1907 $10 gold coin. I said to her," because one day I want to leave a nice collection of coins behind for you. Like a coin like this." Then I showed her the picture of the 1907 and immediately she's shouted, "oh boy! I want to save my allowance and get 10 of those ten dollar gold coins! That's beautiful!!"

2016 KOTCT Merlin Medal O/S on a 1886 Morgan Silver Dollar. The obverse shows the host coin very well, reverse is not that bad either. Mintage of 21.
Some might pass this coin by because of the dark bands, but it is a great teaching tool. Black is terminal toning or tarnish. But it is the colors working back from black that help the most. Blue, green, magenta, and purple all lead up to the black in the final stages of coloration. What makes this one interesting to me is that all the color is semi-transparent so that they never obscure the coin's detail. When you remove the color from the obverse (photoshoped) you can see that the cheek and fields are free of major bag marks. This is a VAM 17 - Dash Under 8.
Note that the toning is much nicer in hand, the pictures show the details very well, but they don't really highlight the colors.
I'd been wanting a 1935-S San Diego commemorative half dollar for a while, but I kept putting it off because they come up so frequently. A fair amount have some slight brownish toning that I'm not a huge fan of, and there are a decent number of blast white ones as well, but I'd never seen one quite like this before. I was originally planning on getting a blast white one, but I had to bid on this one. The toning might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I personally like it:
