Arrived today. Interesting coin. The 1926 Sesquicentennial half is widely viewed as perhaps the worst-struck coin in US coinage. One million struck, 850,000 melted. (Small wonder). Somewhere in there are Washington and Coolidge. MS64 and below are common and affordable; 65 and 66 go into the thousands.
Picked this up at a local shop, 1 year type 70,000 mintage And this came in yesterday's mail BOEOTIA, Thebes. Circa 379-368 BC. AR Stater (20.5mm, 11.95 g). Daim-, magistrate. Boeotian shield / Amphora; ΔA-IM across field; all within incuse concave circle. Hepworth 18; BCD Boiotia 523; SNG Copenhagen 323. VF, toned.
Found a new LCS I like a lot and traded in a few things for these new pickups (except the 81-S was ebay). Frosty/Flashy 66* 80-S with nice rainbow that I fail to capture: Another NGC star and I believe fills a year/MM hole for me: Lots of cool/unique colors on this one, another 81-S I saw and had to have...add it to my pile of 81-S': And lastly an 1887 wild toner that I can't capture well:
A decent 1981P half-dollar that I found in a small plastic baggie that apparently someone in my family set aside a long time ago.
"All" are nice. Really don't think I've seen that first one before. I've seen a top-pop 93, but not a pop-top 93, awesome.
I haven't bought much lately but caved this week and bought two coins. This coin was an impulse buy based on attractive price and lovely deep orange color. The other coin which is one I've been wanting for a while is due to arrive tomorrow.
This 1844-0 $5 NGC MS 63+ bought today could make the difference very soon in having the Number 1 O Mint NGC complete set and being satisfied as the second best as now.
