Phu Cat , among other things too numerous to list, was home to the "Misty FAC's" or Forward Air Controllers in F-100's Super Sabres--call sign Misty. They flew the two seat version. The FAC in the back seat found the target and the pilot marked it with a white phosphorus rocket. Apparently this was a new way of doing FAC from the ole cessna bird dogs. And F-100's were the first just as they were first to do the Wild Weasels. They must have been a very versatile aircraft.
