The company&nbsp; built the power plant in 1900 to power the system&nbsp; of street cars. However&nbsp; the Baltimore&nbsp; fire of 1904. Both the rail car system&nbsp; and power plant had extensive&nbsp; damage. However&nbsp; the building&nbsp; still stands today.</p><p>United Railways&nbsp; went into bankruptcy&nbsp; in 1933. The company&nbsp; when through reorganization&nbsp; and opened as the Baltimore&nbsp; Transit company in 1935.</p><p>1970 the company was taken over by the state to become the&nbsp; Maryland Transit&nbsp; Administration .</p><p>So My first guess of the date&nbsp; needs to be corrected .
