After the war the base reverted to civilian operations until the outbreak of the Korean War. 10 October 1950 the base was reopened as Alexandria Air Force Base and trained fighter pilots. 23 June 1955 the base was named after Lt Col John Brooke England. The base was later closed and reopened and finally closed again 15 December 1992. Today the runway and some building consist of Alexandria International Airport. This base provided pilots and aircraft for WWII, the Korean War, and Operation Desert Storm. Also, they flew A-10s there.
