It has the look of a silversmith back stamp, but looks a bit large to be one. I found two silversmiths from that time period who had very similar &quot;WC&quot; initial stamps. William Cleveland of Norwich and New London, CT and William B. Cordell who practiced in Providence, RI.</p><p><br /></p><p>Cordell looks to be a better choice over Cleveland, but neither man&#039;s stamp matches this one exactly. I&#039;m sure there were other styles each man used that I haven&#039;t seen so will have to let an attribution for this one go. I&#039;m going to pass it around to a few friends of mine who know more about silversmith marks than I do. See if they come up with anything that I missed.
