I bought this quarter size token a couple years back to add to my nickel collection. I don't know how many exist but Adolf had these made. There seems to be a bit of his ego preserved. Don't get me wrong, I gained nothing but good stuff and did not dislike the guy. I was a member back in the 1970's and met with the sometimes cantankerous Adolf Weiss, co-founder ( Philip Petrillo Adolf Weiss, and Karl Nenninger ) of the PAK Full Step Nickel Club in a private home of a fellow club member and his family and friends studying nickels until the wee hours on a Friday or Saturday night. He took a special interest in our local coin club YN's in N. Central PA and I must admit that his teachings, discoveries and knowledge were quite helpful to many. When Adolf spoke, people listened or else! I did get on his good side and he lightened up a bit on me. Maybe because I just kept my mouth shut and ears open. One day he just fell off the face of the Earth and took all the PAK club archives and assets with him. Very strange, but I think later he ended up in Oregon, clear across the country from Monclair NJ. I believe he died basically a recluse out there but I am not sure.
A nice token NickelGuy. I wouldn't mind getting an example for my coin-related exonumia collection. I like these personal issues the best rather than those made for a club or national organization. Thanks for posting it. Bruce
Here's my latest club medal. I like it because it's in the original envelope and has a serial number assigned to it. When I bought this one I didn't realize that I already had copy, but it's a different serial number of course so it goes well with the first one. Bruce
Here is a 1773 Louis XV Jeton. I photographed it using both direct and axial lighting so you can see the nice toning. Also, I'm posting a close-up of the three horses on the reverse (this is now a part of my horses collection!). -Brandon
Here's a new pickup from eBay I just got the other day. I like the antique bronze look of this one, plus the workmanship is also quite good. Bruce
These are two medals I got while at the Baltimore show this past Friday. I bought them both from Paul Cunningham who always has some interesting items to look through. The Heath medal is actually silver although it doesn't look like it...some kind of matte finish I suppose. The Worth Coin Co. was located in Boston, but I'm not sure if they're still in business or not. Bruce
One post is as good as four posts, for your advert.... That last coin....thats the most contradicting thing I have ever seen. Anything with Obama near or on it, usually drops in value fast. GL with that lol
Two new medals arrived today. Thanks to Zohar for having such great taste in medals, and for letting me purchase these from his set!
Here's two more coin club medals I just picked up on eBay the other day. Both are very impressive IMO, but the Wichita piece is especially nice. It's big (45mm) and was struck by Medallic Art. It barely fits in a 2x2 flip. Bruce
