    dwhiz:

The 1880 and 1980 are the centennial dates, but what does the 1907 date represent? A name change from Cottage City to Oak Bluffs?

KH 1.JPG KH 2.JPG This is the only other christening medal I can come up with for now. This one is smaller and with the loop almost looks like a watch fob. Originally it may have had a ribbon or lanyard attached so it could be worn.

Thanks for the info Circus. The piece is kind of small and doesn't have the "look" of a medal.

Enjoyed reading this thread and seeing everyones contributions :)
The medal below was my first 'good' find with a metal detector,
almost 3" diameter and 124 grams of copper.
Some writing shows the numbers 88 and 92 with a copyright symbol I believe, Modern....
Still don't know it's exact origin, but someone from Ukraine told me it commemorates a military fortress constructed in Elizavetgrad in 18th Century.
Thanks for showing, Herbie. COPPER MEDALLION 012.jpg COPPER MEDALLION 014.jpg COPPER MEDALLION001.jpg

Recovered item and example of 1907 Jamestown Exposition fob, never heard of the event?
It was pretty much a failure.

Numbered (#47) and noting 1906 pure food and drug legislation, MA spice co fob, Stickney & Poor, est 1815 and still in business, pick up a sandwich
in New England and you'll likely get salt & pepper packs with the brand.
