As an old school Independent Insurance Agent/Broker, finding this in my Florida LCS junk box last winter was to dream of history. C.1900 Modern Woodmen of America $1000 31 mm N#90886 Numista rarity 97! https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia90886.html
Just got this one with 260 miles on it. Now I need to find one with the 532 miles (if one exists). Strange that the 160 mile and the 260 mile versions both have 1946 on them. Looks like they issued them every 100 miles.
An interesting set of tokens, magic man. Interesting to see how many there actually are in a set. Bruce
Does anyone know anything about these tokens? Mainly what metal they are made from? The Dale Earnhardt (top) is much thicker and heavier than the others.
I have also found this "token" for the PA Turnpike commemoration of 160 miles. It has a date of 1940. I wonder if that is how many miles they paved up to 1940, or what they were going to pave. My other 160 and 260 both have a date of 1946. And the 360 does not have a date. Maybe someday I will have the time to research the Turnpike's history. I have no problem with you adding my pieces to the TokenCatalog. I have about 300 spinner tokens I was going to list, but I am just too damned lazy.
I know there are at least four to this set. I cannot find one that has the final 532 miles on it. Maybe everyone was bored with it by then!
Been meaning to give you a hand but work is interrupting my numis time . . . 10.5 hours today. Tomorrow doesn't look any different. At least I'ze got a job . . . . . Z My dream vocation . . . .
