Here is one that I dug years ago. Can anyone identify who made it? Or what it was attached to? I have weighed it and it doesn't match any large cents or small cents even half penny's etc. But it was definitely hammered IMO.
World’s Fair of Money Aug 2000 Philadelphia PA National Money Show Mar 2000 St Augustine FL 34 mm, 14.82 grams
Boy Scouts ‘Get out the Vote’ Freedoms Foundation Valley Forge 1952 3.00 grams 33 mm I think aluminum
This may be a luggage or ID tag that was never engraved. Engraved tags were common years ago to help passengers keep track of their cases or trunks. I'm not sure about it bring hand struck. The roughness could just be from being buried for a long time. Bruce
Thanks, I meant that in hand it looks like it was hammered flat. The piece was engraved and either painted or enamel. Weight 8.3g I never would have thought of a luggage tag, but it works for me.
Here is another dig find, in TN though. I am finding it troublesome finding this tag. H.H.McCullochs Louisville KY. Think it says free returns at the top. Yet I can't find anything on the web about a business. Any help? Maybe just a look in a different direction. The only thing I could find is his name in a City Ledger on Sinking funds as a Tax recipient 1895 and 1896. What is a sinking fund in layman's terms? Reverse is blank. https://books.google.com/books?id=3y0uAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA134&lpg=PA134&dq=hh+mcculloch+louisville+ky&source=bl&ots=qeMk7qKI4K&sig=ACfU3U0FjhcNx4smL4w7Fae9t-E0WWMFJg&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjh6KDMjYv8AhWLl2oFHZ3yBcYQ6AF6BAgkEAM#v=onepage&q=hh mcculloch louisville ky&f=false Thanks
