Great Space Themes! I've been searching to see if there are àny SpaceForce Medals produced yet. Haven't found any. The newest branch of the Militàry is interesting.
MATT'S PLACE is the name of the merchant. HELPER is the name of the town I'm betting. Tie breakers are whatever they say at RICHARD'S TOKEN DATABASE.
Hi everyone. I don’t have a lot of exonumia left in my collection. I used to collect all kinds of coins and tokens, but got rid of a lot of it in order to focus more on some areas. Still have some left, though:
Metropole Good for 25c, from Rico Colorado. Brass, 4.6 grams, thin planchet, 24mm, Pritchard RI181-25. Reverse has a 90 degree rotation so I can't tell what the alignment is. Rico at one time was a prosperous silver mining town, complete with 14 murders. Rico in Spanish translates to rich. One of the meanings for Metropole is parent-state of a colony. There is another Rico token called Dey's Metropole. And I found an image of the two story Dey building in Rico. The caption says the top floor was used as office space and the lower floor was retail that was almost always a saloon. I believe this token was a saloon token used before or after Dey's token.
You still have some very nice tokens, svessien. The camel on the halfpenny piece is interesting, but my favorite is the "Pig's Meat" halfpenny. Thomas Spence was an interesting guy who issued a lot of old counterstamped coins mostly referring to land reform. You may already know of these, but if not there's a lot online about "Spence's Plan" Bruce
Here is a copy of one that turned up in a bag thin and not a very good copy, no revere. Sutlers token
Thought this one was interesting. Bank of France Token Translates to Wisdom fixes Fortune, 1800. Engaver: Rambert Dumarest 1750 - 1806. Edge Hallmark is Argent with pointing hand ,which was used from June1845-October 1860. Commemorating the establishment of the Bank of France under Napoleon Bonaparte. Featuring Minerva and Fortuna of Ancient Time.
@longnine009 I found this one last month in an old cardboard box under a flap. Its uncanny that (somewhat like yours) it doesn't seem to look as old as I'm thinking it should be. It is listed in Tokencatalog but with very few details. I too researched Riverside(the town) CA. and discovered that the 4 saloons in town including one by this name were literally run out of town by the Mormon settlers in approx. 1867. This one in particular relocated in San Bernardino in Riverside County. I discovered the guy who sold one of only 2(the other sold by Duane Feisel) that I could find sells strictly single oddball good for type West Coast tokens on Ebay which results are only found on Worthpoint. Would you mind looking this 30.5mm brass up in Prichards? I'm curious as to what that listing says. There's an obscure listing for it on a website (which is not taking new members) called NUMISMACLUB where you basically enter your own listings and values. Feisel is legit as he is world renowned as a Top Expert and has designed several Transit tokens in the years. According to this weird listing it is an F10 yet I could not get any interest in it on Ebay. Also curious about the other 3 in the same listing as they may be the others run out of Riverside. Any help would be greatly appreciated. here's the listing he basically entered himself click on the blue link :US Trade for this entry CategoryExonumiaTokens: US Trade Id number: 104198 Circulated/Uncirculated: Circulated State: CALIFORNIA SALOON EXONUMIA: RIVERSIDE COUNTY CALIFORNIA Shape: ROUND SAN BERNARDINO CALIFORNIA: HOTEL BAR TOKEN Material: BRASS INLAND EMPIRE CA: CORONA CALIFORNIA Country: USA MORENO VALLEY CA: NORCO CALIFORNIA Type: GOOD FOR CHINO CALIFORNIA: FONTANA CALIFORNIA Estimated value: around 40 USD
