Bought this in a large lot of British tokens/medals a few years ago. Would like to know where to cash it in!
Well if you're ever in Baltimore you got a Guineess brewery and yes you can sit at the bar a have a pint or two.
@lordmarcovan Yep, those jetons came from John. Like I said pretty far outside of my normal collecting interests, but they're pretty cool.
Park under the sand. Very white looking oval disc. The photo is unnaturally dark because I was trying to angle it so you could see Jefferson and Monticello.
Mine is rough shape but has die cracks on both sides as well as a 90 rotation from obverse to reverse. These pictures suck now that I upgraded my photo editor! Instead of just cropping it is now zooming in and pixelating the photo...but I already started this post so here they are until I find a new photo editor app...
I don't have any idea when and where I picked this coin up. Guessing it's a coin from possibly the Philippines good for a beer in or around the military bases.
How neat! Looks like yours was plated? Am I correct or does the silver appear to be something else like paint? Here's mine, though there's no trace of the plating if there ever was any: MV130b, Philippines, Subic Bay Paul Cunningham has these as a Maverick in his Military Trade Tokens: Volume 2 Overseas but also says "One source puts these at Subic Bay." I don't have my book handy right now to see if yours is listed. Let me know @VistaCruiser69 if you're interested and I'll dig up my reference when I have time. I mentioned plating above because plated brass was a common overseas, like the one below: I'm not super proud of that picture, but it does capture the plating wearing off on the high points.
Very interesting. Thank you for the information about this coin. The one I have is pretty worn out. Guess it was redeemed for lots of beers. I'd be curious to know how old it is though.
Finally got a decent photo editor and you can see the die cracks on both the obverse and reverse. Unfortunately I need to get some verdicare to treat the spot on the Saguaro cactus.
