Islamic glass-weight, 10-12th C, AD. 23.5mm Dia., 3.00g. Probably the hardest thing I have tried to photograph. Light from back shows impurities.
Picked this fare token up today while on lunch. Kalamazoo Michigan not sure of the time period though. All I have found is links for sales and the numista site just has the specs for the token. Any ideas of time frame?
The Ranger Club. I thought this was US Army Rangers but it's Rangers for the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) trained by US Rangers under MACV (Military Assistance Command Vietnam) They mostly conducted counter insurgency and apparently did very well--earning 11 presidential citations. Oh yeah, yet another piece with a rotated reverse. WTF? Are these rotated reverses I keep getting some kind of a cosmic message? The mothership will be landing over here not over there--- Bien Hoa, Cunningham VN470C, plated brass, C/A, 24mm, 5.2grams
Could it be that the feeding equipment to the die press is automated and every one might be in a slightly different position?
My guess is the dies we're not aligned correctly to begin with or they got out of alignment after usage. It seems like everything I buy these days has rotated dies whether it was struck last month or 20years ago.
