Another oddity from the recent auction. Appears to be a medallion celebrating the treaty between Germany and the Austro-Hungarian empire - a factor in the start of the First World War. Anyone know any more? Quite small -measures about 21mm.
And a blast from the past, for the younger ones who may have not been around ore-computer phone size or desk/lap top. This sterling silver charm of a computer was also in the bulk buy.
This is a medallion, for good luck in business. A gift from my GF 25 years ago. The story about how I lost it, and then found it, is the most ridiculous thing in history. On one side are the Hebrew letters and the other side I think Arabic. Tetragrammaton the Hebrew name of God transliterated in four letters as YHWH or JHVH and articulated as Yahweh or Jehovah.
The perks of my job can be the best! My company paid for me to golf in a scramble today as part of a conference on the transportation industry. They gave these rounds out as Ball markers; about the size is a S $1. They must have had them left over from a few years ago...
Having been a caver in my younger more flexible days, and having did all of the cave tours own our honeymoon. Including the 8 hour wild cave tour, the general public seldom seen parts of the cave. The wife and I were delighted that this medal showed up in the last bulk buy.
I'm in Portugal at present and I stopped at a dealer in Oporto and bought a few items This is about 48 mm, though where you measure it seems to me a bit arbitrary. I liked the computer and the typewriter, not to mention the odd shape.
Been a while since I added to my military token collection but here's one I recently purchased. My first from Sembach Air Base, Germany: I don't have Cunningham handy right now so no reference attribution. Construction began on Sembach AB in 1950 as a NATO base intended for US use. The Air Force first occupied the base in 1953 and had an active airfield until 1995. In 2010 the base was turned over to the US Army and is in use by Military Police, Medical, and Correctional units. This is my first token from this base.
Good to see you post some new tokens, Jack. This is a nice one, and being a first for you makes it even better. Bruce
Good to see you again Jack. Your token is Cunningham 1330a. He only shows it in 25c. B&C are also 25c but in aluminum. B is blue colored aluminum and C is gold colored aluminum.
