It was common to have joint bases in the war. Cam Ranh Bay had the navy on one side and the air force on the other with army sprinkled on both. When the navy moved out of the Naval Air Facility the army moved in. Danang was the same way.
I've sent an image of your counterstamp to several people I know who are very good at interpreting these things. My contact in Tennessee has opined that it might be a Masonic issue, as the phrase "In His Presence" sometimes appears in Masonic ritual. I tend to think otherwise though. I did research that angle and didn't find enough to attach it to Masonry in any important way. The acronym doesn't appear in Masonic symbolism as far as I can tell, and I think the use of the phrase is just incidental to the discussion. Rather than "In His Presence" it would appear as something occurring "in His presence", referring to God, of course. I think "IHP" definitely stands for "In His Presence", and is used on the coin for religious purposes. In my opinion, relating somehow to Catholicism. I'm still thinking on it, Jeff, and waiting on other opinions. The Pastor in Manchester, UK. who identified the Resurrection symbolism for me hasn't responded as of yet. Unfortunately, he's been dealing with serious health issues lately, so I'm not sure I'll hear from him. I'll keep in touch. Bruce
This medal by P. Hollins commemorates the 300th anniversary of the founding of the Birmingham grammar school by King Edward VI in 1552. BHM 2502, 58mm. The obverse of the medal also appears on award medals at the school.
I have a similar token from Cline in my collection, dwhiz. I think the reverse might be a little different. I picked it up at his table in Baltimore a few years ago. One of the nicest store cards out there. Bruce
