You have some nice stickered coins, dwhiz. The history behind this one makes it special. For something like this, maybe 200 surviving pieces seems optimistic to me, but who knows for sure. Bruce
This is an interesting piece of coin club exonumia I picked up this past week. I've never seen a combined wooden flat and elongated coin together before. The coin is a 90% silver dime...can't see the date... that was designed and rolled by the President of the club, Sally Kirka. Sally was a prolific "roller", and had scores of personal designs to her credit. Her many issues are listed in a reference written by Angelo A. Rosato. "Encyclopedia of the Modern Elongated." He lists it as KIR-45. I bought the piece with the original envelope included. Bruce
Who knows could 20 or 2,000. I 'm almost finished these stickered dollars, I have a Eagle Page that hold 9 coins and I have 2 more slots
There's a pretty interesting article in the new TAMS about a counter-stamp on a British 18 pence token and a seated dime from a dentist name Enoch Osgood. Osgood was also an inventer who patented the toothpick and a pain preventing tooth extractor. The article also sites Mechanic Arts Favorable to Liberty and Social Progress (trade journal?) as calling it "highly objectionable." Google has the patent filings for Osgood's tooth extractor: https://patents.google.com/patent/US6011A/en If you click on the image you can expand it. I think I'd prefer some local anesthesia to go with that "painless extractor."
When Dan Carr struck the Knights of the coin Table medal he made 1 special one for everyone who placed an order. No 2 are a like.
