Pretty much from what I have seen, all the good names have been taken. And like the circus even when the circus closes the name still has value, so they keep it active if only with the local licensing authority. Ringling bros parent company owned most of the old time circus monikers from Yankee Robinson and newer. The names were used to brand the different divisions of the parent company such as the transportation div. trucks and rail cars etc, another handled the concessions food div. another for the souvenirs. Another for the props,costumes and rigging. another for the animals, with everything leased back to the parent company for the tax write offs.
