Just pulled the trigger on this little guy - seller's pics. These were often issued as souvenirs at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876. Many were dated, some were not, and this one has a blank reverse. I'll need to do a little legwork at the library to see if Ms. Smith would have been a possible visitor to the Expo. The medal blanks (Rulau No. 75) were made before, during, and after the Expo, so who knows?

I picked this one up months ago but had no clue as to why it was made.

Here's a nice piece I picked up recently in England. Those pages say they were issued dated from 1895 to 1906. You'll note the name Spink, the well-known London dealer. The piece is about the size of an old English penny, which was one of the things that caught my attention about it, that it was close to a coin size, in addition of course to the really nice design and it has good eye appeal. I'll be displaying it.

By the way, though the numista page says it has a reeded edge, this specimen has a plain edge.

Technically I suppose this is a coin but I think it should considered exonumia.

A Military Challenge Coin, but when was it made?
Reeded edge, silver in color, slightly smaller that a silver dollar. I know that it's the 320th Training Squadron, Lackland AFB but it's a much simpler coin than recent Challenge Coins which are colorized
