Found a binder full of wooden nickels at a junk shop. As usual they thought they were worth more than I did. Tried to get the whole thing cheap but settled on picking out some of the cooler ones. I think they're really interesting but not valuable.

    I just learned something
Bob Muckeye McKay was a member of the club who passed recently so they put his name on all of the medals in memory. Except for the overstrikes.

I picked up a few today,
This first one was produced by medalic art co. I like the detail that was put into this medal. The high relief, and depiction of the Native American and Settlers, is what caught my eye. We can save the True history lesson VS what we were taught in school for another day. IMG_3175.JPG IMG_3176.JPG

Here's another Knight's of the Coin Table medal. It was struck by Dan Carr in honor of Gary Burke who died in 2010. Gary was a retired history teacher from Colorado who used to do all the shipping for KOTCT. He also collected National Geographic magazine. I believe he said he had 7,000 copies.

I'm afraid I haven't been a very good custodian of this medal. It's big, heavy and thick and I don't care for them even when they feature someone I really liked. Everyone liked Gary. He was a very cordial man.
