A little known story about Vietnam.

The very first conflict between the United States and Vietnam occurred in 1845 when the USS Constitution unsuccessfully tried to free a French Bishop from a Da Nang prison. The Constitution even took prisoners of their own and captured three Junks to bargain with but it was no deal. Upon leaving Da Nang, the Constitution fired six rounds into the city.

Just added this CWT to my collection. I grew up in Perrysburg, and the bridge between our city and Maumee was a big part of my life. This toll bridge is long since gone, but what a find. I paid way too much for it, but find me another one, right? R-6, and only the second one I've ever seen sold.

I bought this because it still has a 10 year warrantl attached to it. I don't collect many stock certificates but I have no other with a warrant on it. They can't be executed if the warrant is separated from the certificate. P1010666.JPG This one was good until January 2, 1940.

Well this is the last item that was included in the very large penny swap for exonumia. It was a nice surprise as when he had posted it asking what it was. And was told that it is a old coke advertising good luck charm key/watch fob.

    It is 1 1/4"w X 1 1/2to the top of the bail.

It is a very old American Indian and even older symbol for good luck. of course the context changed and could be one of the first politically correct changes of use of word or symbols. Not that the usage of it for the 3rd riech did warrant it!

Here is a site dealing with tokens that use them back for that dark time, and thier history. Good Luck Tokens with Swastikas

Is that elongated cent actually from that era?

That's really an unusual piece, Circus. I'll bet Coca Cola would like to be able to take that one back.

It was given out long before the rise and fall, I have read and been told that is why it was adopted because it was a good luck symbol

Once the PC steamroller gets started it's hard to stop.

Strike that...I'm not sure it stops.
