Right down your alley, dwhiz. I never saw a train hobo before and I like it very much. Do you know who Hobo X is? Iassume it's the name of the artist.

    Here's a link to his eBay auctionhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/Hobo-Nickel...687?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aec164277
I've bought a couple from him all trains, still looking for a moose hobo.
Here's my other two from same guy, looks like he changed his ID

Here's some from pics from my USB. It definitely shows the dots above the "O", so apparently it's of German origin. I spoke to Greg Brunk about this piece and he referred me to a knowledgeable collector of German coins and counterstamps. He told me that it appeared to be pre-1860 and likely from the area around Frankfurt as I guessed. According to him, German counterstamps are indeed scare.

Just out of curiosity, Jeff, what two German pieces do you have in your collection. If Brunk doesn't have them presently listed, I'm sure he'd like to hear about them. He's presently working on the European section of his new reference.

I've included an image of the reverse of the coin for you to take a look at.

Over the years I've had several "Love Tokens" in various forms, but this one is by far the most elaborate and well done!
Here's a sort of Love Token even though there's no engraving. There's 100 mostly Type 1 Three Cent Silver coins connected with jump rings. Some are pretty high grade based only on wear. The thing is 5 feet long. Mike. MVC-065S.JPG MVC-064S.JPG

I bought this counterstamp awhile back but never posted it. There's nothing really interesting about it, except the issuer. An interesting history.

Oh, I've been around, Jack. Like gum stuck on the bottom of your shoe...can't really get rid of me.:D

I'll be going to the Baltimore show on the 16th. Also have a big Steve Hayden auction coming up...closes August 2nd. I'm salivating over some of his offerings...it's really rather disgusting, slobbering like I am.:shame:

I love lots of stuff Hayden sells - old military trade tokens and sutler tokens. However plenty of other people with larger budgets get all his goodies. :greedy:

You know...if Cunningham is there, you should see if he has any McChord or Mildenhall tokens for me:angelic:
