1 50th Anniversary of the Civil War.

 

I love WW II planes, tanks, ships everything. History is my favorite subject about anything and that is why I enjoy coin, medals ect as a hobby.

 

Ya me too. As a kid I was lucky enough to get to fly on a couple WWII aircraft.

 

I believe the Confederate AirForce now called the Commemorative AirForce still sell rides in WWll bombers at air shows.

 

Always wanted to ride in one but my Dad wouldn't do it. He said it cost too much. He had a friend who had a pursuit aircraft that I got to fly in.

 

When I someday create a bucket list that is on my list.

 

Eisenhower Centennial Silver Dollar. I'm not sure if this qualifies in this thread even though it is related.

 

I had a roommate in Berlin who as NCO over motor pool and repair. We got smart idea to take a M1 Tank for a ride we had been partying all day . We ran the hex out of it then try to stop it . But that's why it was at motor pool one track would not disengage or turn off.We found a ranp wedge between ramp it dug a Big hole in ramp . MP CID all were asking a lot of questions about How someone came though 4 locked doors and a locked key box.without damaging door locks etc

 

I'd like to fly a P-38, but I'd probably kill myself doing so.....

 

We had a couple of boiler techs who got drunk and tried to steal a crane from a civilian construction site in Sardinia. I think they managed to get about five feet before the cops were all over the place. And of course it got into the papers so the old man was in a really good mood when held Captain's Mast.

Here's a couple more medals from my collection. I believe this whisky Medal is from India, it's very thick and heavy. Mis-spelling of whisky for whiskey is definitely something foreign, at least to me. The whiskey token used to have a loop on it that broke off before I got it. Can you imagine someone wearing that around their neck? Late 1890's early 1900's. Also, here is my larger medal for Mathieson Chemicals.
