Collector 1966, I know is is off topic but I LOVE the toning on the coin that is your avatar! Beautiful!
Thanks. I bought it as a white but cleaned coin in 1989 and kept it in a paper coin envelope for 5 years before transferring it to a Dansco 7070 album in 1994. It spent about 3 years in a house that had a high sulfur content in the air (1993-1996). It shows the same toning pattern on both sides. I started a thread about the coin a few months ago and it stirred a bit of controversy about whether it was artificially or naturally toned. I've never tampered with it in the 22 years that I've owned it, and I have a French 10 francs silver coin that exhibits nearly the exact same toning pattern, but only on one side. I bought the French coin after it had already toned. Anyway, to keep with the spirit of the thread, here is a Standing Liberty quarter with nice toning on the obverse (but the reverse looks like it just woke up in the morning, so I won't show it!)
