I think this is a unique specimen that I wish I could afford ==> https://www.davidkahnrarecoins.com/...t-half-dollar-pcgs-ms63-76726510/category/70/
Can't let this thread die. Actually would like some help here. I just got notified that I won this auction. I thought I had just thrown in a lowball bid and pretty much forgot it. Anyway it's an O-114, R5 Obviously a bit beat up. But is it worth a premium? Seller's pictures It's probably the best die marriage I own, so I'm a bit enthused. But thanks for your comments good or bad.
Longshot, it's an R5- (probably on its way to R4+) but it still seems to carry a 2x or so premium. Nice cherry.
This may be one of the coins I've owned the longest in my entire collection. Sorry for extremely amateurish pics which I just snapped with the tablet I'm typing on.. The reverse looks to be in better shape than the obverse –is that characteristic of the type?
I do know that the 1810 is frequently, even often, found with serious strike weakness on the obverse. Incidentally @Marsden I believe the Overton number is O-101, which is common. Got a pretty nice die crack going at the base of the date. Is that actually a chip left of the base of the 1?
It's actually 103 rather than 101. And, yes, central weakness at Liberty's chin is a hallmark of this particular die marriage.
Where do I find these overton designations? I know nothing about Bust Halfs and I am slightly leery of another numismatic obsession! Just looked and I can't be sure w/o my loupe, which I can't find. May just buy a new one since I can't ever find anything around my Hoarders House. But now you've got me (mildly) curious so I'll crack it out of its case for a better photo.
