O-111 R-1 1831 O-111 R-1 AU-58? Common variety in a high grade. Cleaned, rim toning. Not as bright as in the pictures. I suck with photos. Time to pack away for a year to retone. Nice obv die cracks. Much nicer in hand, and more original.

Nice looking coin. I would put it VF-35 or XF-40 - leaning towards XF. I am wondering what is to the left of the 1 on the obverse. Can't tell from the pictures what it is.
Thanks for the rapid replies! Just on top of my head I was expecting more of a VF, but also think it's a great coin so an XF is very welcome [emoji4] I haven't seen the coin in real life yet so also wondering about what's left of the 1 on try obverse [emoji4] Is the O-109 and R-2 die marriage a common one and how would I know the difference from other die pairings? Just love how these coins wear and tone! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree with the VF, and the R-2 is common. To get the die marriages, buy a copy of Overton's book on Bust $1/2's
