1823 O-106A Some diagnostics for 1823 O-106a R2: Obverse: Star 1 points to lower half of dentil. In this late die state, the too tall “3” has been modified to strengthen the joint connecting the top and bottom loops. In this late die state, there is a crack joining stars 11-12-13 to the curl. Reverse: Lower end of line 1 of stripe 5 is defective, and not connected properly to shield margin. “R” & “I” nearly touch. “I” is centered under “T”.

1823 O-108 1823 O-108, R2: The obverse of this die marriage was struck with Obverse Die 7. This was the first of two uses of this die. It was used immediately after to strike the O-109. The reverse was struck with Reverse Die B. This was the first of three uses for this die. After striking the O-109 it was used to strike the 1822 O-112 and then the 1823 O-102. On the obverse the 23 are clearly larger than the 18. On the reverse: (1) The Overton/Parsley book states: "(There is) no inside right serif on A3. A1 and A2 have tiny inside right serifs." This is not completely true. Early die states of the O-108 have a small, thin, right inner serif on A1 (my coin has this). Most other O-108's lack the inside right serif on A1. (2) The A in STATES is rotated counter-clockwise, so the right (outside) serif is above the left serif of the adjacent T.
1823 O-110 1823 O-110, R2 This is what the coin looked like BEFORE THAT PESKY 3 chipped away and created the Ugly 3 - O-110a variety. This variety has a dot between stripes 1 and 2, just above center between top to bottom. I have it graded as VG-F. Comments?

Reverse: Top of U higher than N in UNITED. 1824 O-101 [4 over 1] R-2 #2 With Countermark Looks like it says TAMALLO with reversed L's. Another 'oops' looks bright, but that is the camera, original in hand: 1824 Obv lamination. questionable Prime:
1824 O-103 [4 over jumble of dates] R-1 1824 O-103 Grade: VG-8+? [Old grade, today = F-12] R-1 Obverse: 2 Reverse: C Diagnostics: Obverse: 1824 over a jumble of recuttings. Reverse: Crossbars 2 & 3 extend into the right of shield. Another example. I only got it because the dealer was clueless, and I couldn't leave it behind. Some kind of 'schmutz' in the left obverse field. It would probably come off with some kind of solvent. What do you grade it? My guess? F to VF.
