    1817 O-101 R-3 17 over 13
    1817 over 13

    Obv. 1
    Rev. a

    R-3

    Key Diagnostics:
Obverse - Date is evenly spaced at 9 mm. The 3 is sharp under the 7. Most show several pronounced die lumps below star 13, above cap and above star 7.

Reverse - Right sides of T - I in line. Most show die lumps, especially a large one inside 0 of 50. However those that do not show the obverse die lumps do not show the reverse die lumps. Center dot between 4 and 5.

Well, I couldn't resist, even tho it is a low grade.

    No 102???;)

Alas, the 106 "comet head" is only R-2. The R-5 rating in the 4th edition of Overton is a misprint.
    [IMG][IMG]

The 105 has 3 recognized die states...105 prime (no die cracks) is R-6; the base 105 R-5 has the crack at star 9, but no crack at the date and no reverse cracks; and your 105a.

Mine is the 105 (and yes, it really is that dark).

You are right, I checked the BHNC listing and it is an R-2.

I have to correct my computer.

I don't like to show off my 102, it makes folks sad. :)

    That piece is REALLY dark!
