Dave... Congrats on your new acquisition.

The color palette of these always seem so gentle and pastel, yet the designs so dynamic and bold for places in this world known for such a rich and dynamic cultures.

What do you think about the potential split between northern and southern Sudan... Potentially two new currencies to come with the current one becoming obsolete?

Thanks Chris. I agree, the palette used on most French-printed notes seems to lean toward pastels, which is I think part of how they get recognized and classified as "French" even before one might know who actually printed them.

Politically, I feel bad that Sudan has to resort to splitting in half to solve its problems, but it certainly seems they've tried all other options and this may be for the best. As far as the currency, I don't collect it, but it would be fun to watch a new "Pick #1" come out from each country!

An example of an "evasion" note issued after the cessation of the Civil War - non-National Bank issued notes were taxed out of existance and banks were made to re-open under a National charter to issue National currency. Some entities in the South didn't quite get on board with that though, and continued to issue their own paper money but coyly issued them as "fare receipts" and due in payable to the company type script. Some states and municipalities skirted the new regulations as late as 1896 with "Revenue Bond Issue" and "Warrants".

The Brunswick and Albany was created in 1869 to take over the Georgia based "Brunswick and Florida RR" that had been destroyed during the war. This railroad went bankrupt in 1872 and thenceforth became "Brunswick and Western Railroad" before being absorbed by the Savannah, Florida, and Western Railroad in the early 20th century.

SM: That's a fantastic note! I love the 'iron horse' vignette. Brunswick & Albany --> Classic RickieB New York theme!

Here's another RickieB [The R.D. Bradley Collection] pick-up from the FUN Heritage Auctions that I got for my own collection. I cannot express just how honored I am to be the new owner of this note with a special meaning and significant provenance.

These are HA's pics. I will be writing more about this note in days to come after I have received the note, but I wanted to share what I won since others have RickieB notes to share as well.

Very nice! I love all the folks milling about in the vignette. Would be nice to see a large view of that when you get the note in.

I will do that Dave. I have one very worn F-60 note in my collection, this new one being a serious upgrade for me. I tried counting all those tiny people in the vignette once before and I believe there are about 27 and a few horses pulling carriages as well.

I don't really collect notes, except for inflationary script like the 100 trillion dollar Zimbabwe issue. Those tend not to be to attractive, so I won't post them here, lest this turn into the thread from, well,
