That's great. Hopefully he will respond to the thread! So let's take a break in the progression for a bit...
I dug out some older monogram pics that I've previously posted, hope they're ok. Monogram of Basiliscus: DN BASLC AVG (long name, tiny coin) Monogram of Julius Nepos: Monogram of Anthemius (very poor style at this point):
I had this one all the time, just wanted you to show yours... MARCIAN RI Marcian 450-457 CE AE4 11mm monogram
I thought I'd keep the ball rolling. Next up is Basiliscus...(Wildwinds) Basiliscus AV Solidus, 475-476 AD. 4.44 g. Constantinople mint. DN BASILISCUS PP AVG, pearl diademed, helmeted, cuirassed bust facing, holding spear and shield / VICTORI-A AVGGG and officina letter Gamma, Victory standing left, holding long cross; star in right field. Mintmark CONOB. RIC X 1002; Sear 21477; MIR 1a.
Here's my Basiliscus semissis! And a few more late Romans that I missed earlier in the thread... A rare large-size bronze of Valentinian III, issued for use in Cherson: Similar for Leo I: My Leo solidus: An AE3 sized bronze of Zeno (Cherson again, I'd love to upgrade this, but it's tough...) Here's a Libius Severus with monogram of Ricimer (one of my last purchases of 2018): and finally, the coin I regard as the very last in the Roman series, a pre-reform Anastasius nummus. Not on the Wildwinds list, but I know @Ryro is looking for closure, and I don't think we can do any better than this! (Other than Wildwinds filler, of course.)
Well, the day is finally here for an end to the sojourn across the timescape of the empire. Romulus Augustus AV Solidus, A.D. 475-476 Rome mint. D N ROMVLVS A-VGVSTVS P F AVG, diademed, helmeted bust three-quarters facing, holding spear, wearing elaborate cuirass and shield decorated with rider over fallen enemy / VICTORIA AVGGG and two dots, Victory standing left, holding long jewelled cross, R-M across fields, mintmark COIIOB.
