OUT OF SEQUENCE NOTICE (And it's my fault) @Eduard had posted this lovely coin earlier - it was originally Post #17 - but the post was showing twice. Trying to be helpful, I removed what I assumed to be the duplicate (double-) post, but later discovered that the original had vanished too, and I couldn't restore either one! I swear there were two, with someone else's post between them! Not sure how that glitch happened. Anyway, my sincere apologies to @Eduard. I was at least able to copy the deleted post, which follows below. ... "Hope I am not too late with this sestertius of JVLIA (Livia)?? Julia Augusta (Livia). Augusta, AD 14-29. Æ Sestertius, Rome mint. Struck under Tiberius, AD 22-23. Ornamented carpentum drawn right by two mules / Legend around large S • C. RIC I 51 (Tiberius)"
So, to put us back on track, we need another Julia, or someone can move us on to Caius & Lucius next.
Do reverses count? Ala... Augustus Silver Denarius, 27 BC-CE 14. Lugdunum, 2 BC-AD 12. CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE, laureate head of Augustus right. Reverse: AVGVSTI F COS DESIG PRINC IVVENT around, CL CAESARES in exergue, Gaius and Lucius Caesars standing facing, each togate and resting a hand on one of two shields set on ground between them; behind shields, two crossed spears; above, on left, simpulum right, and on right, lituus left. RIC 207 Ex-St. Paul Auction, UK
Ps, sorry if I skipped anyone's Julia (the daughter). I WISH I had one of her. I remember being told that Augustus's embarrassment was so total with her that he had no coins with her likeness minted. Sometimes misinformation is good!
I don't see why that wouldn't count for Caius (or Gaius) & Lucius. They're depicted on there, after all. And we're going to want to post posthumous restitution issues and such later, so... ?
I gather our next stop on the list, Agrippa Postumus, is another toughie? There's only one on Wildwinds. Then it's on to Tiberius, for whom I have two, and when we get there, @Roman Collector will finally get the chance to (legally) post his avatar coin, and @Mat can repost his Tiberius that got fouled earlier.
@Nemo , I have all three varieties on one coin! I believe the boys were actually JUGGLING the Lituus and Simpulum, simultaneously ROLLING the two shields back and forth on my coin! Amazing circus feat those two performed on my coin! (BTW, that is WAY cool capturing 3 varieties! Very nice!)
