A friend of the family, we call him "uncle ____" nickednamed me that years ago - I don't know anyone that calls me that anymore other than people on the forms. Another nickname I have is Butch - don't ask me how I got that one, because I don't know, but alot of people at church, and around the area call me Butch. I believe that it started with my buddy who is our local sheriff - we would go hunting together and such, and he would allways call me that. Speedy
somebody please remind me to post the pic tonight - my sister has the camera, and I'm getting ready to leave for awhile. I'll forget for sure! Speedy
My favorite vacation spot With the new Boy Scout commemorative coin coming out, I thought I would post a picture from a trip that I made while in the program. For those Scouts on here, maybe some of you were lucky enough to go to the Philmont Ranch in Northern New Mexico. I have been lucky enough to go twice, and these pictures come from the first trip. Mount Baldy is one of the main features of Philmont, a 12,441 ft peak on the edge of the park. The total distance for our hike up and back, plus a little detour to do some gold panning was 21 miles. Here is the pic of Baldy and then of my group at the top. And for the last part of the contest, a 100 Lira Turkish note with an engraving of Mt. Ararat. Thanks for the contest Paddy54!
My favorite vacation spot - My family rarely goes on a "vacation" - most of the time we might go away for 2-3 days, and the longest I remember was 9 days. With my dad being a pastor, and now with my work with funeral directors, we like to stay close to home. This little spot is not far from home - I think a few hours....maybe like 3-4, and we used to go there like twice a year for 2-3 days. We haven't been in maybe 2 years and I would love to go back. It's pretty much on the KY/IN state line, and I believe that it is the KY river that you see in the pic's. Madison IN - there is a nice little state park there, and the town is kindof split - on the hill the newer part of town with all of the stores and places to eat. Down by the river is the old town where there is a coin shop, and other neat places. I'll post a pic' here shortly of a coin that is connected to that place - it was one of my first coins back in the early years of my collecting. Hopefuly I can pin-point where it is.... So there it is! Someone asked me the other day why I didn't like going to the beach - I told them that I can really only remember going to the beach once, when I was four, but other than that, I would rather be in the middle of the woods out where there are few other people! Speedy
:loud:Hey Everyone only two days left so post your Pets/ Vacation/ Fishing & Coin pic's The contest closes 9/15 @ noon est!:hammer:
This should be fun! The first photo is my son at age 12. I took him trout fishing on the White River in North Arkansas. He spent 10-15 minutes fighting this beautiful Brown trout, only to have it jump out of his hands just as I took the photo. :crying:. The good news was it was Catch and Release. the next is my son at current age 29, still enjoying fishing. Finally a token I gave him to keep in his takle box for luck. Now if I can only get him interested in coins.
This is my dog and her 5 puppies! her name is bella!Sorry if its a little big I couldn't make it smaller! Thanks for the contest! good luck everyone! ~acodym
We got Teddy from one of those little mini pet rescue adoption deals at the front of a PetSmart here in Houston. Here is his classic "Two Broke Legs" sleeping position: Sorry I don't have any animal coins yet, I just got started in this hobby JAC
