Those are great denarii @Alegandron . I really need to get myself further into RR coinage. But that will happen when money isn't tied to just two collections. Here is my Philip II bronze. The reverse has a person riding a horse, which was supposed to commemorate Philip's victory in the 359 BC olympic games.
PAMPHYLIA, Aspendos. AR Stater, 22mm, 10.78g, 12h; c. 380/75-330/25 BC. Obv.: Two wrestlers grappling; ΦK between, below Rev.: Slinger in throwing stance right; EΣTFEΔIIYΣ to left, counterclockwise triskeles of legs to right; lion countermark in lower right field.
Love the types, Alegandron! I don't have either, yet. How about this one which shows a picture of barbarian head polo, a great past time in the early Roman Republic.
Love it! Here's mine: ROMAN REPUBLIC. M. Sergius Silus AR Denarius, 19mm, 3.9g, 9h; Rome, 116-115 BC. Obv.: Helmeted head of Roma right; ROMA and XVI monogram behind, EX•S•C before. Rev.: Soldier on horseback rearing left, holding sword and severed Gallic head in left hand; Q M SERGI below, SILVS in exergue.
Ok, I will put mine out there: Got this one a long time ago... RR Sergius Silas Quaestor 116-115 BCE Roma Severed Gaul Head Sear 163 Craw 298/1
Well, since we're piling on examples of Sergius Silus, here's my severed head that I finally picked up late last year....with a tiny reverse OOPS!!
