Now what's a nice guy like you doing with a coin like that? Very nice one, Boss. Sort of gives you a warm feeling all over (...just my impression). :thumb:
Jack, you're a dealer, that's why. It would be kind of pointless if you played, and I think you realize that, and that's what's stopping you. But, please, for the sake of this thread, not to mention our pride, consider making exceptions, where warranted. Such as, for example, take my "parking lot" '13-S. Why don't you just break down, there, and show us what a real good, coin-show quality one looks like? I hate to impose a veiled threat, here, but just think of the alternative, if you don't. That "parking lot" '13-S now singly fills that hole in this unofficial CT Registry Set. That ought to spur you onto action, huh?
Anyone can post But the only thing I ask is we say on subject. and post date year and mint mark that is needed
Fishaddict, I love it! But, you must always post the other side of it, too. Read the rules. I think it's in the small print, someplace.
Ok- here is my NCS debacle, rejected, formerly famous, once holdered and warm brown like a fresh brownie, now receiving Verdigone after trying to fix with Dellars:bigeyes::bigeyes: (which was apparently contaminated and broke out this and several other coins in spots:desk::desk::desk::desk. I think the verdigris will come off. Thank God he made Bad Thad to create cool stuff like "Verdigone". I am trying to LOVE this again. After treatment will go in album with my retarded S VDB and they will tone and reholder. I just know IT!! Sorry for the silly rant
RLM has a cool one. Mine's still sitting in xylene (probably 50 hours plus) to get the lacquer off (nice hidden hairlines are already showing- Can't wait to see what's next). Maybe people could tell the background of the coins or comment more or their grades or what have you to spice it up? Is that in the rules? Also leeg, I am sure has a nice one.
Here we go: I am starting to think this 1915 was lacquered too. AJ said something about it looking not original in Post some Lincolns and it has that same glossy look (I included the side view). I am kind of over removing lacquer so I may sell eventually or put in my album and just enjoy as it is awful purty as GD says. Sent this 15 D to NCS secondary to small verdigris on back (cracked out of 64 BN holder) and came back 63 RB with a darker look. In retrospect I should have briefly soaked in mineral oil, used a rose thorn (it was very superficial) and got it all off with xzlene and sent to PCGS as NGC is lame re: RB designations. Has to be practically all RD to get a RD in my experience. Lesson learned. I still like both coins. Small spot by Lincolns head on 15 D is on the holder (I didn't clean well before pic) and all the verdigris on the 15 is virtually gone now with rose thorn and mineral oil.
Forgot to say I love this 15 D Thad! Could you mineral oil to get some of the haze off? and then xylene? Of course that might remove the insane toning, so probably bad idea.
None taken- you can't fake that kind of sweet album toning. If holdered I think it would fetch some decent money. I would trade with Thad all day on that one.
There's no haze on it, if you see something, it's an artifact of my photography. When you view this coin straight on, it looks nothing like when you look at it from an angle, it looks like a normal RB coin. The only thing this coin has seen is some acetone before I put it into an Airtite, and that's all it will see as long as I own it. Thanks for the compliments folks!
As you guys may have noticed, I really like toned Lincolns. I'm scared to waste any more money with NGC. They have been on the "artificial color" kick for sometime now, IMO, they are being completely ridiculous with a couple coins I sent to them. I have a 22D that's an easy MS-64, it would likely slide to MS-65.... they didn't like it. I've had SEVERAL Lincoln experts examine the coin in hand and tell me it's completely natural and one of the finest they've seen for a 22D. I'll post it for you guys when we get to 1922, it looks pretty normal straight-on, but when you tilt it...WOW...I can't even capture the beauty on with a camera, it's a serious light show of color. I'm going to try PCGS next, but I'm still concerned. Unless they have a true Lincoln pro looking at it, they may hastily come to the same conclusion.
