    Shield nickel for most ugly design. It's a great collectible, but when it first came out, it reminded some folks of a tombstone.

    lol amazing that one of the first posts is the one i agree with the most. im not sure where i would want to say "ugly" coins started. i mean the nickel (any design) is the MOST obvious choice for me but there was the 2 cent and 3 cent nickel piece. trying to choose the best lemon is so hard.

    oh yeaaaaaaaaa and THIS deserves a honorable mention. even the toning doesnt help.
