I was chatting with my dealer from Govmint.com and he told me that in Sept and Oct they will be releasing the New Perth 2014 Year of the Horse coins. I am waiting for the Pamp lunar series as well. From what I heard people should be able to pre order soon.

Thanks for the vendor photos - they sure do look cool and I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Nice looking coin (the horse one), but the mintage is too high to interest me.

The koala looks like a clown.

Your right about the koala, it does not look good. I think if the pricing is not to crazy I may buy the Kooks and Year of the horse.

I will likely pick up a few horse. It is the first Lunar bullion coin I purchase. I like the Kooks so will likely pick that one up as well

Thanks for the designs, Lost. It seems like the Perth Mint usually tries to keep these a secret, so it is nice to see them beforehand.

I'm going to pass on the Koala. The horse(s) is nice, but I wish it was just a solo horse.

The Kookaburra is nice also. My favorite was the 2011 because it had some action to it.

The horse and kookaburra will definitely be added to the stack and are winners for me but judging by what a lot of people are saying online about the koala they could end up being a flop. The design isn't appealing at all. I'm sure I'll pick up a couple but only just to tick the box.

Getting ahead of myself, it will be interesting to see what the final 2014 koala mintage numbers will be in over a year's time. A bad design and potentially higher silver prices won't exactly make for a record breaking number being sold.

Yeah the Koala looks a little weird but definitely like the horse coin. Not really worried about the mintage as I buy them for my enjoyment :) I'll probably end up buying the Koala to keep my collection going but not one of my favorite designs that's for sure.

The Year of the Horse is setting itself to become the most popular in the Lunar series after the Dragon. I pre-ordered about 50 of them this morning and 40 of the 2014 Kooks back in Australia. Every dealer I come across is sold out or are drip feeding their allocation out on a daily basis.

I spoke to one dealer this morning in Sydney. He said that even with the allocation being spread out to a few hundred ounces a day these were likely to completely sell out within a couple of weeks. Time will tell I guess. He's even had offers from wealthy investors to buy up their entire allocation for over what they're selling them for - effectively an attempt to corner the market. Thankfully they haven't gone down this route.

I prefer Perth Mint designs of the past, but the lunar horses are OK and I'll be picking up a few of the 1oz silver and gold ones. The other sizes have no mintage limit if I understand correctly.

The 1oz gold horse looks nice, probably my favorite of the gold designs in this series.

Pre-ordered the Year of the Horse & Kookaburra coins earlier this morning from APMEX. The Horse was a little over $40 & the Kookaburra was $31 & change. Not due to receive until late September but I can wait :)

Apmex has their pre sale going on as well. Here is the Ebay links for their Lunar 2014 horse and the 2014 Kookaburra. They are selling on their main site as well, but this is for if you want to just buy 1, its cheaper this way.

It actually costs $43.90 with shipping so the price is not that great.
