    Just got this one for my set. Only need 1531 and I'll be complete 1499 to present.

    Haha, when I first looked at the picture it looked like 1555 and I was like... John, that's not prime.

    Then I realised it was a 3.

    Very nice coin.

    Mansfeld? Nice design. Saint George and the dragon, I presume. Funny how often and how long he's been showing up on World coins.

    Correct. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an article someone wrote about St. George and the dragon on coins over the centuries.

    The Numismatist, March 1962, has an article "Saint George and the Dragon" that discusses an Armenian medal as its main subject matter, but includes the following:

    The noble is quite rare and expensive. The Italian coin seems to be a Grossone, not a Testone. CNG sold a nice looking one of those in 2021 for $650.

    Here's a variant from Mansfeld, where St. George isn't seated on a horse, definitely the exception.

    German states, thaler, Mansfeld, 1547.
    De May 668
    28.5 grams

    Obverse: Standing figure of St. George slaying dragon with lance, shield of old Mansfeld arms below in front.
    Legend: GEBHART. E. HANS. G. PET(ER). E. C. (D.) I M(A).

    Reverse: Shield of new Mansfeld arms divides date, 2 ornate helmets above, date between helmets.
    Legend: MON(E). NO(VA). AR(G). (C.) C. ET. D. I. MAN(SF).
