After having a bit of a dry spell, I had a bit of a sprint lately with some new pickups. I love cherrypicking varieties as well as finding some nice eye appealing pieces.

First up is a cherrypick I made on GreatCollections. It's a 1941-S Large S FS-511 Mercury Dime unattributed and tied for Top Pop with just one other coin at MS-66.

Next up is another GreatCollections buy, it's an early PCGS Rattler. The price was right and I liked how the coin turned out. The images on GC made it look like it had a couple carbon spots on the obverse, which luckily turned out to only be on the holder.

Next up is a Peace Dollar that I picked yesterday. It's a 1923 VAM-1AB2 "Extra Hair" with beveled field below TRVST. It's raw, but I would grade it around MS-63.

Another fun VAM that I picked yesterday. It's one that I've been looking for for sometime. A 1921-S Morgan Dollar Thorn Head VAM-1B4a. :)

And last but not least. Another Morgan Dollar to add to my collection. I just love the color and flashy look of this in hand. The cheek is incredibly clean for the grade, the fields do have a little bit of very light chatter, otherwise this would have been at least a grade higher if it had been a different date/mm. It's also the first coin I've bought that already has a CAC sticker.

I almost forgot, this one arrived in the mail yesterday. I bought it on eBay. It's an 1887 Morgan Dollar in PCGS MS-63. What grabbed my attention is the grease filled reverse die. The price was right and the interest factor for me was sky high!! There are quite a few letters nearly missing in the Motto, the eagle's right foot (viewers left) is almost missing..

LOL, I know, I can just hear the banks of printers running in my mind. A sound I have not heard in a very long time. :)

What do you think of that 1887? Are these pretty common? Also the quality of it looks far worse in the images than it does in hand. The surfaces are actually a semi-PL, there is just something on the surface blocking a lot of it out. If you tilt it, it will really reflect the light back. Either way, I bought it for the interest factor with quite a bit of the design elements being filled in. :)

It's cool for sure. Check out VAM-3 ;)

Edit to add - Maybe @messydesk has an idea of the population for the filled die (state) VSS-FD 1. The SSDC registry does not break out the quantities assuming there is more than the DC.

Thanks for the info. I had not even attempted to VAM it yet. I did notice the doubling on the 7 and the 1. You saved me some time. :)

All of about 60 seconds. Sort by date position and it's first up under near date...:)
