If anyone is interested in the Red Book, again I was sent an email by Whitman of now FREE mailing for the 2011 Red Book. Thier add shows so far 4 different types. The Spiral Bound version with large lettering is now $29.95. The Spiral Bound version with standard lettering is now $14.95 The standard Hard Cover version is $16.95 The Spiral Bound Hard Cover version is $19.95 Whiman also still shows many of the older versions such as the 2010 Edition available including the 2008 and 2009 Leather Covered versions. Thier add stated the 2011 version is 432 pages which I think is the same as the 2010 version but difficult to tell since they do not place page numbers on all add pages. Supposed to be shipped in Early April. I usually wait for them at a coin show since cheaper than from Whitman.
Considering the amount of information in the Redbook, I think it is a bargain at these prices. Anyone that doesn't have a 2006 or newer edition should consider buying an updated version. And you don't have a Redbook at all, a purchase is way overdue!
....did you leave out the professional red book, carl? now THAT is a good one! http://www.whitmanbooks.com/Default.aspx?Page=81&ProductID=0794828426
When it's add, it also underlines that the original post spells ad as add. If you changed it to ad, I would definitely drop the italics!
NO didn't leave it out. Just listed all the items they sent me an email about. If you go to thier web site you would see many, many other books available. They still have the copies of the 1947 reprint available also. I suspect they sent me a limited list knowing how cheap I am they must realize anything to expensive, I'll just pass on anyway.
Not to famillar with the Red Book usually get the Gray sheet and The Green sheet for currency, Is this strictly a coin book??:rolling:
I usually buy a new one every year ,but this year I might hold out for the newer professional edition just to see how I like it. Guy~
NO. They also cover the old Red Books too. :smile Yes it really is a coin book. Probably the most sold and used book in this hobby for information. Great for a fast reference on Mintage quntaties. Also, lots of info on Proof sets, Uncirculated sets, colonial coins and on and on and on. Just probably the most famous coins book out. Whitman sells virtually millions of them every year. Not sure where your at in Indiana but if near the Illinois Line you may want to check out the coin shows at Countryside. Unless you have coin shows in your area.
\ So grizz I see your from Aliquippa. Anywhere near that US Gypsum Board Plant we just built? And not kidding. I think Whitman knows how cheap I am.
Thanks for the info, I think i will go ahead and get one anyway I think the information would be very useful
....hey carl! if you know where the hospital is (former) you can throw a stone and hit me! but PLEASE don't! i just got new windows!
